I normally look forward to my Saturday workouts-no time constraints, etc. However, after spending a wonderful Friday night with my wife, my gas tank was low, as sleep was minimal since our cat decided to wake us up at 5:30, and I couldn’t fall back asleep. I had a great excuse not to workout, but I gave it my best shot and did ~15 minutes of pretty good exercise. Make no mistake, it was a struggle to make myself do it, but again I felt so much better, both mentally and physically.
The body is a temple ! Have you ever heard the phrase? I researched it and it comes from the New Testament- 1 Corinthians 6:19-20. Now I’m not a church-going guy, but I do believe there is a creator of all things, and if you just think of how the human body is designed, it is an incredible work of engineering. There is a saying-“if you want to see a miracle, just look at your hand”. What we can do, and tolerate, and excel at is just unbelievable! Don’t we owe it to ourselves to respect that gift of creation and provide our bodies with the best nutrition, and give it the activity it so dearly wants and needs. Think about it the next time you want to talk yourself out of doing some activity, and when you are putting something in your mouth. I’m far from perfect myself, but if I can get a foothold on the diet and exercise part, good choices in other areas will piggyback on that. The body is a temple!
An update on the apple cider vinegar (ACV) bandwagon I’ve been on for a couple of years. I tried a personal diet study 6 weeks ago today, taking 2 tbls of ACV before lunch and dinner, with no change in either the amount of food or the type. Now, I eat a good diet normally, but I wanted to see what effect ACV had on weight loss. I’ve lost 5 lbs! And I feel better, in fact, when I put the ACV in 6 oz of water with 1 tsp of honey, I swear it gives me a boost in energy. Stick with it, you’ll notice a difference too!
Stay well, John R. Blilie, M.S.
