I have been suffering from BLOG BLOCK!- BIG TIME…. Okay, I’ve been out-of-town here and there, but honestly, I’ve sat down 3 or 4 times and have come up empty in my thoughts (an uncommon occurrence). In addition, there has not been much news on the health front-not much new anyway.  However, this is new!

Check out my son Alex’s commercial on a website called venomosity/skate park. Alex is the one with the num chucks……

I mentioned before about how I’ve lowered my blood pressure from the 130’s to the 110’s. Current stats indicate that 76.4% (in millions) of people over age 20 have high blood pressure. 64% of men and 70% of women over the age of 65, have high blood pressure. A much-anticipated report from the American Heart Association and the American College of Cardiology from the Hypertension in the Very Elderly Trial from 2008, showed that high blood pressure treatment in people 80 and older led to 30% fewer strokes, 23% fewer cardiac deaths, 64% fewer cases of heart failure, and a 21% drop in death from all causes. You see, you CAN make a difference in your own health and morbidity by making good choices:diet, exercise (any type is better than none!), avoiding tobacco, and moderation when it comes to alcohol consumption.

An interesting new finding: young children (under the age of 10), who spend more than 4 hours a day watching TV or playing computer games have narrower eye arteries than those watching less. Folks, circulation is key to good health!

Stay well, John R Blilie, M.S.
