I had a sad day today. A man I’ve been working with for over 10 years is fading quickly. He’s been through several medical issues, most notably pancreatic cancer (he had his pancreas removed 9 years ago), but he has always maintained a great positive attitude and continued exercising with me several times per week. His cancer returned ~ 1 year ago and it has sapped his spirit-he seems to have thrown in the towel. Depression, anger, fatigue have combined to zap his zest for life. The toll it’s taking on his wife is equally hard to watch-she continues to exercise 3x/wk with me, a needed outlet for her stress. I wish I could do more…..
On a happier note, during my workout early this morning, my 12 year-old son Alex, joined me. Kudos to him for getting up and at it at 5:30 A.M.
Keep eating your carrots and celery. Carrots are not only chock full of vitamins and antioxidants, they also help with gas and flatulence. Celery is good for blood pressure, and is especially beneficial to the large intestine-some studies show that it fights colon cancer.
Stay well, John R Blilie, M.S.
