With the temps saoring and the monsoon season in full force, outdoor workouts can be a challenge. If you don’t get outside before the sun comes up, it can be pretty nasty-you need options. Luckily, I have a great diving pool and have some water exercise equipment to give me a pretty intense workout. Water is a wonderful, and for me, a challenging workout, and it’s a great change of pace-easy on the joints, great for the lungs and heart, and cooler. I will soon put up a water workout.
Magnesium is nature’s calcium channel blocker. Calcium channel blockers alter the access of calcium into the cell, relaxing the smooth muscle in the arterial wall and causing blood pressure to fall. Given all the published data showing the benefits of magnesium as a therapy, I don’t understand why more physicians ignore it. It is less expensive and has no side effects. Magnesium is also a powerful stabilizer of heart rhythm. Excessive amounts of magnesium can cause diarhea, but 1,000 mg/day is easily tolerated by most people. I found this useful nugget of info in Julian Whitaker’s Health & Healing.
Stay well, John R Blilie, M.S.
